I have been taking Saphris for about 5 mo. at different dosages. It has worked wonders with not hearing voices anymore. I took 10mg at night and tried taking 5mg more in the morning but it put me in a mixed state. I just went to taking 15mg at night. It puts me out in about 10 min. and I sleep all night, so it really has been good for those things, but I'm still depressed, irritable and anxious despite all that I take. Just wondering what your experiences have been and if it puts you in a mixed state or adds to your anxiety.

I have never heard of the tkb but it sounds like it is really working for you. The irritability, at least in my case, is the side effect of being at baseline. Seems I am very rarely happy unless something astounding is happening like when my daughter gradated college for example. I was on a mental high for two months over that and not irritable. Unfortunately the alternative to get your at total baseline is to give you a dose that makes you feel nothing, not high, not low, nothing. That's why a lot of bipolars stop taking their meds. They don't like that "flat" feeling. Discuss it with your doctor (and family if you feel comfortable) and ask them if you are overly irritable and/or if the time before was preferable to them. Blessings to you. Let us know.

I asked my husband what he thinks i've been like lately, and he said that I never smile and my irritability has been as much as a 5 on a 1 -5 scale. Other times he can tell I'm trying to hold in my irritability and not show it. My son say's I'm cold and uncaring, which i know i have been (not my normal self). I'm waiting for my pdoc appt. on the 23rd. I know there will be another med change, I'm starting to believe there is no combination that will get me where i need to be. I hate suffering with this! Thanks for your response and your blessing!

Is there any way you can call your Pdoc and deal with this earlier. It seems to me like both you and your family are suffering.

You will find something that works for you. Don't give up. Sometimes it is a process of trial and error. I have been through so many meds. They work for a while, then I have to switch for one reason or another, but eventually I find something that works. Right now I am on abilify. It helped with my paranoia and delusions almost immediately after I started it. It has also helped with my depression. I highly reccomend it if it is an option for you. There are so many options. You will find the right combination.

All my best wishes,

Wendy

Hi Wendy, I called my pdoc 10 days ago and he made a med change and I HATE calling him, so that's why I'm waiting. I've been on abilify, for some reason it didn't stop the voices or help with depression, so on to something else again for me. I really like Saphris, maybe it's because he took me off of lithium about a month ago. He thought I was doing well on Saphris so we would try going off of lithium. I don't know, I'm confused and frustrated. it's all just a big guessing game, and so far we haven't guessed it right for me.:( Thanks for your response :)

I took Saphris . ( aug 2010 through March 2011). I was at 20 mgs pm. It made me gain 30 pounds! It did stop the hallucinations and paranoia. I have a hard time staying asleep, so it did help with that. As for mixed states, It didn't help them. I was mixed either way. It did help with my anxiety. However, now I am on Buspar, and that is really helping my anxiety.

gottapa, thanks for your response. I have to really try HARD not to gain weight and I'm losing that battle for the most part, but I'm still trying. Hate that! I have more anxiety I think for some reason. We"ll see what happens on the 23rd.
