I never got that side effect either. I did however lose 30 pounds as a side effect and could not be happier about it.

Hi there,
I too am a Celexa taker and also feel extremely tired most the time. I feel like I have to have a nap in the middle of my day, everyday. (I do also take Serequel which can add to it I'm guessing) I started in Februarty and I'm still getting this effect. It's not as bad lately, but it's still there. I'm not sure if it relates but I feel like I'm a walking zombie sometimes ahah. But best I can say is try taking it at night might help a lot! Not too late, but a bit before like you feel going to bed.

I hope this helps a bit, or if you can relate!!

I felt fatigued on Citalopram because it made me hypo-manic and after a few days of go go go I crashed and burned.
I also experienced sexual side effects with it.

I am bipolar type 2.

I've been maxed out on Celexa for at least 2 years (closer to 3 I think). I suffer from bouts of both insomnia and hypersomnia. I might be awake for two days and then sleep for 15 hours and wake feeling like a zombie. I've had sleep studies done, hormones checked, etc. You name it, I've had it checked. My pdoc feels I should remain on Celexa for the time being. It is not a drug to play around with, trust me. I made the mistake of trying to lower the dose on my own; I will not ever again. Right now I have SAD on top of rapid cycling bpII. I am hoping once the weather gets better I will too. If not, I will likely try to lower my dosage, under supervision (hospitalization).

Current medications as of 01-17-2012
01-01-2005 - Present: Zyrtec, 10 mg. Once a day.
01-01-2009 - Present: Buspar, 45 mg. Three times a day.
01-01-2009 - Present: Celexa, 60 mg. Once a day.
01-01-2009 - Present: Xanax, 8 mg. Four times a day.
12-01-2011 - Present: Vitamin D3 , 5800 IU. Once a day.

I remember getting tired on celexa 'cause it woke me up after 5hrs of sleep. I kinda liked getting less sleep 'cause i was oversleeping... it wore off after a couple of weeks. But overall it made me a little 'up' hypomanic...

It's not just you. I was on Celexa for about three years give or take and was so tired every day that it interfered with my job performance. I'd have to smoke a cigarette and drink a Red Bull every morning before work just to stay awake till lunchtime when I'd do it all over again. It never occurred to be that it was a side effect of the Celexa until I read your post and saw the replies.

It also interfered with my sleep schedule. I could only function on about five hours of sleep. Anything more and I'd be groggy and fatigued for the whole day, taking naps often.

I also experienced a significant amount of sexual dysfunction while on Celexa. I literally did not give two #@$%&*s about sex or getting off for two straight years. It was awful.
