False positive drug test for PCP???

Has anyone ever tested positive for PCP while on Lamictal? I swear, I have never even talked about PCP before, so imagine my surprise when I tested positive for it on a pre-employment drug screen. Searching on the web, I see that it's possible to test positive while on Lamictal.

I need some advice!!!!

i'd talk to my doctor about the test and see what could be done for the emloyment position immediately. I'm sure it's possible that ther was a false test.

I talked to the pdoc on Friday and he says that it's definitely the Lamictal (he also said that if I was on PCP I wouldn't be going on job interviews!). I have called the staff developer twice since Friday and haven't gotten a return call. It is wrecking havoc on my mania and OCD!
Mostly I'm disturbed that this is making it more difficult to get going with work. I should have been able to start tomorrow...but now I have to wait until the test comes back from the lab (where it is going to test positive again) and to get my TB test done and read (takes three days). It also means that I will have to release my medication list to the employer, which includes someone who I used to work with who has a horrible time keeping her mouth shut.

No advice because it sounds like you're doing exactly what you need to do.

At least you have an entertaining story to tell?? "This one time... I was about to start a job...but then I tested positive for PCP." Then let it ruminate for a while before telling them the complete story.

Thank you everyone. It is a pretty funny story! My second test came back clean and I have started my new job. I haven't worked in 10 months. It's great to be a contributing member of society again. I'm probably not ready to join the workforce again but I hope that with time I will get into a groove. My biggest fear is that I will tank again and not be able to get up to go to work.

But I'm working my butt off to get stable!

This situation just happened to roommate...I'm going to see if he's taking Lamictal b/c he has no clue as to why he tested positive for PCP. Not an easy drug to find these days anyway. Thanks for the thread.

i've noticed the date at side of your reply of 04/20/2010 is that when you started treatment if so maybe i need more time and i'm not worried about who see what but thanks for the info. i'll be sure to leave this stuff where someone else can find it

I would definitely give it some time...for me it took six months before I really leveled out all the way for the first time ~ it was weird. I've had up & downs since then but nothing like it used to be. I haven't been to jail or the psych ward in over two years: that's amazing!

Anyways, this is a great place to vent or talk about what's eating you like you did in your 1st post. I like that you are candid and honest.I hope you give it your best shot at Wasatch because you are worth it & deserve to get better. i try to give them the best chance to help me.
