Stopping Seroquel XR - Starting Abilify

My psydoc has me stopping 150mg of Seroquel XR tonight and starting Abilify 5mg (working up to 10mg in 2 weeks). Anyone else have advice or experiences with stopping Seroquel XR?

I have missed a dose before and felt AWFUL the next day, I hope I don't feel like crap tomorrow because of this....

Just make sure he/she does it slowly but adding the Abilify may not make that necessary. I didn't let mine do that. I was scared of Ability and too cheap to use it. How wrong I was! Love Abilify. I think you will too. Keep us posted.

I was told to just stop Seroquel XR150mg and replace it with Abilify 5mg.
I felt OK today though, other than being a bit nauseated on waking and again after being a passenger in a vehicle.
I felt happy and upbeat, which is rare for me.

Still feeling a bit nauseous through out the day, but the happy and up-beat is continuing too. Have taken Zopiclone 2 nights out of 3 to sleep, going to try to go without tonight because I don't need to be up as early or drive but may change my mind.

Still only taken Zopiclone 2 times, woke up stupid-early today though.
Feeling better, no nausea since day 3.
Must have been the withdrawal from the Seroquel XR.

Also, since being my heaviest on Seroquel XR I have lost nearly 15 lbs.
(Through combination of eating right, exercise and now switching medication).

Great experience so far on Abilify.
I am upbeat and happy (not manic)
I sleep 6-8 hours a night without the need for Zopiclone.
6 more nights of 5mg and then switching to 10mg, I will report any changes.

I really like Abilify. However, I really liked being on 15mg versus the 20mg I am on. It was a big difference cognitively. But, 20 is what I needed. I should ask about going to 15 and see what happens.

Glad your experience is good so far. I started out on 10 and felt at first like I was hit by a Mack truck! Took some getting used to.

I am on both Seroquel XR and Abilify and both are working wonderfully for me. I'd say keep giving it a go with the Abilify. ^_^

I did exactly what you are doing. I switched to regular Seroquel instead of the XR so that I could titrate down. I was on 300mg b/c it was acting as an anti-psychotic & a mood stabilizer. I went down to 100mg & started taking 5mg of Abilify.

Now I take 10mg of Abilify & don't take Seroquel anymore. I've lost weight but not as much as I thought I would. I think my mood stabilizer (Depakote) has something to do with it. I would like to get rid of it & try Lamictal instead. I also got prescribed zolpidem for sleep. I didn't want to but my doc insisted b/c I wasn't sleeping on Seroquel anyway.

Well I just wanted to let you know that I'm glad I switched from Seroquel to Abilify. I hope it works out for you too.

I've lost 21 lbs. since the last of Feb! However I'm on Lamictal, Ability and now I'm on Topamax too. I think that is the combo that is helping. Good luck to all. I'm putting my meds on but they have raised all three so it's not accurate right now. Since I attempted an overdose recently a nurse sets up my meds. I will post the increase in the ability, lamictal, and topamax soon.

Tonight I will switch from 5mg to 10mg.

No issues with the switch.
I like Abilify, no weird side effects so far.
And I'm losing weight pretty well, down to 145 from my highest 162.
