Abilify & Vistaril (hydroxyzine)

I was perscribed Abilify on Monday the 15th for Bipolar 1 with mixed episodes. I felt the difference right away, I was more mellow and not so edgy.. But yesterday I noticed my anxiety started acting up again, so I requested for my Pdoc to do something about this.. So now I have been perscribed Vistaril 25mg every four hours or as needed.. Has anyone been on these two at the same time? What were the effects and did it help with the vistaril? I have taken Vistaril in the past, and it did seem to work for my anxiety, hope I get the same results..

Well I was told to stop taking the Abilify by my Pdoc. It seems the Abilify was making more elevated.. I like all of the energy on the positive side, but the negative side it makes me more anxious, irritable, and having to do so many things that I can't do anything I usually do, like taking care of the house.. Seems like a waste of energy if you ask me..
Anyways I go and see my doc again on the 1st of March and I will probley get perscribed something else.. I'm thinking Seriquil, (sp?), that's what she was going to put me on at first, but decided the Abilify instead..
Whatever the case I hope I get a medication soon that will keep me stable..

Abilify induced manic phases for me as well. I've never taken Vistaril. When Abilify didn't work for me though, my doc put me on Seroquel like you. Man, that was a mistake. I went from having energy to wanting to sleep all the time. I felt like I was walking around in a fog when I wasn't trying to sleep 10 to 12 hours a day. I also noticed I was hungry all the time...bad combination. Weight gain is a definite problem on this antipsychotic. As of now I'm on a combo of Depakote and Lamictal and I feel...fantastic. I've got energy but focus, no lows and I haven't had any ill side effects as of yet. Weight gain also is not a factor with Lamictal and Depakote can but it hasn't for me unless you count breast enlargement, which was weird but not unwanted. Good luck and I hope you and your pdoc get those meds worked out!!!
