I was diagnosed with MPD 22 years ago. I really don't find much use in their new D.I.D. terminology. I believe its a different diagnosis all together that wraps under the same as symptoms of MPD but lower under the umbrella as Schizophrenia and other disorders.
Its been a struggle for my system most of our live. Currently, medications are fumbled with to find what fits best, and the reality of it is, you need several as not every personality is depressed, manic, bi-polar, psychically ill, Chronic pain, Anxiousness and Agoraphobic. There are healthy functioning parts as well.
As of late, my meds stopped working the effect needed so we've been on one heck of a bumpy ride, the last 2 months, while trying to find something else. The only thing doctors are sure of, is that when treating MPD patients - lithium is a big one to somewhat stabilize our moods. It worked a little to well for functioning and raising kids, we became emotionless.
Today now that my kids are grown, and my moods are completely chaotic and unstable, Lithium is being prescribed to me again. Only this time... I look forward to being emotionless (emotions in the system are raw, misplaced and loaded ready to explode) it stops the up rise of the protectors, enforcers and executioners, which gives the system a little bit of peace, as it elevates the fear others and small ones in the system of the mean ones surfacing.
Glad we found this site and the tracker app. It's become a huge part of us keeping track of the moods, triggers, anxiety, twitching and switching out.
Thanks for reading.
